Frequently Asked Questions

An adventure bike is built for big days on the road, gravel or even off road routes. You get touring-style comfort and wind protection, with the ability to confidently tackle gravel roads and off-road routes to get off the beaten track.

The Honda NX500, CRF300L and the CRF300 Rally are LAMS approved, making them a smart pick for newer riders who want adventure looks, everyday usability, and learner-friendly licensing. Along with more experienced riders wanting a lightweight adventure option.

If long-distance comfort is the goal, the Africa Twin Adventure Sports models are made for touring—strong wind protection and a larger fuel tank help make long days easier.

Yes. The CRF1100 Africa Twin and the NC750X ranges are available with Honda Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT Auto) as an option, as well as traditional manual models.

The NC750X is positioned as a do-it-all all-rounder. It’s practical for commuting and comfortable enough for weekend rides, touring, and general exploring. However all adventure bikes in the Honda range can be used for commuting with many people also using the NX500, CRF300 range and Transalp daily.

The number of riding modes vary by model. In Honda NZ’s adventure lineup, bikes such as the XL750 Transalp, NC750X, and Africa Twin offer multiple modes—often including options like Rain, Tour, Urban, Gravel, and Off-Road (depending on the specific model). Some models also have user customisable modes so you can set your preferences.

In short yes, but model choice matters. Honda’s adventure range is designed for mixed-surface riding, and smaller, lighter options like the CRF300L and CRF300 Rally are especially well suited to exploring both on-road and off-road trails.

The CRF1100 Africa Twin range all come with tubeless tyres, which can make puncture repairs easier when needed to repair on the go.

Start with how you’ll ride most: mainly sealed roads, lots of gravel, trails, or a mix thereof. Then look at engine size, seat height, comfort features, luggage capacity, fuel range, and whether you want manual or DCT. If you’re a newer rider, check LAMS eligibility early.

Honda’s adventure lineup includes:

  • CRF300L
  • CRF300 Rally
  • NX500
  • XL750 Transalp
  • NC750X (manual and DCT variants)
  • CRF1100 Africa Twin (manual and DCT variants)
